Ilaria Sagaria

Ilaria Sagaria was born in Palomonte (SA) in 1989. After she moved to Neaples, she  graduated in painting and in photography at the Academy of Fine Arts . In 2016 she won the Sette opere di Misericordia Prize organized by the Museum of Pio Monte della Misericordia in Naples, Some of them photos are exposed in the selfportrait collection of the MUSINF Museum in Senigallia. In 2018 she was finalist in the Biennale of the Italian Young Photographer and in the Portfolio Italia Prize with the work Pain is not a privilege. In the same year she was selected by Antonio Biasiucci to attend the Laboratorio irregolare, a two years master class. In 2021 she wins the first prize of the XVIII Portfolio Italia 2021 and the work Pain is not privilege is on show at the Uffizi Galleries.  She worked as photographer in Naples and Munich and currently also as photography and graphic design teacher in Italy. Her photography sets out to convey a  complex, many-layered image of womanhood  rich in cultural symbols, echoes and artistic  details with a special focus on social, political  and psychological meaning.
