Charles Fréger was born in Bourges, France, in 1975. He got a degree in 2000 at the School of Art in Rouen.
He dedicated himself to the poetic and anthropological representation of communities as athletes, school children, armed forces. His works propose a reflection on the image of contemporary youth. He also founded the artistic community Piece of Cake and the publishing company POC. His photographic series on athletes, soldiers or students, in Europe as in the rest of the world, mainly focus on the clothes they are wearing, on their uniform. He chooses communities having the most striking and prestigious costumes (as in Steps, Empire, Opera series), as well as more modest situations in which the collective image represents the way of life in Europe (Bleus, Sihuhu) or in other continents (Umana, Ti du).
His works are in many publications and have been exposed in numerous museums and private galleries in Europe, Asia and United States of America.
